Jimmy Kimmel and Channing Tatum Play A Candy Prank On Their Daughters

Every year after Halloween, Jimmy Kimmel asks parents to trick their kids by telling them they ate all their candy. It usually ends with hilarious results (for the parents at least), as you get to watch the kids process that all their trick-or-treating loot is gone.

Of course, it never actually is. The whole bit is in good fun and will undoubtedly be used as blackmail when the kids get older.

However, this year things are a little different. Because of his son’s medical needs, Jimmy Kimmel has taken a leave of absence from his show. He’s enlisted a group of celebrities to take over his hosting duties while he’s gone, such as Shaq, Dave Grohl, Channing Tatum, and Jennifer Lawrence.

Last night, it was Magic Mike’s Channing Tatum who was on-call to host, and he decided to dance his way onto the stage.

Tatum also had the honors of announcing this year’s “I Ate My Kid’s Halloween Candy” prank. But to kick things off, Tatum and Kimmel decided to get in on the action themselves.

Channing Tatum certainly loves all aspects of being a father. For Halloween, he dressed up as a unicorn to head to a party with his daughter.

As a way of embracing his host duties, Tatum decided to tell his daughter that he ate all her Halloween candy.

“Look, I figured if I’m asking you to do this to your kids, I should probably do it to mine too,” he said.

Eerly, who’s 4 year old, was not impressed.

Then, Kimmel himself sent in a video showing him doing the same to his 3-year-old daughter, Jane.

Jane didn’t seem as upset as Everly, but she was still pretty bummed.

Have you ever pulled a prank like this on your kids?

How A Mistake Led To The Most Recognizable Dish In The World

Almost everyone can identify the classic white dish with the blue cornflower on the side. CorningWare was a staple of almost every house on my street when I was growing up. Something so popular had to have been the result of careful planning and engineering right?

In fact, the favorite dish of America is actually the result of a colossal mistake, but when life gives you lemons…

It all started in 1915 when Coring Glass Works introduced Pyrex to the world. It was the first time that glass ovenware could be used. The traditional metal was the only option before because glass couldn’t stand up to the heat.

Fast forward a few years to 1952 and Dr. S Donald Stookey, who worked for Corning, was working in a division trying to find an even stronger version of glass. Little did he know that an accident in the lab was about to change his job forever.

Dr. Stookey was a very smart man, graduating with Honors from Coe College and then later finishing with a Doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Even the smartest men in history have been the beneficiaries of some good luck.

That’s what happened to Stookey. While testing a piece of glass using in early TV production, a malfunction in the oven accidentally baked the material at a whopping 900 degrees Celsius, more than twice what normal ovens can produce at their hottest temperature.

New York Times

He expected the piece of glass to be a melted puddle when he opened the oven, but he was surprised to find it still intact. It kept its shape and turned to a milky white color. He carefully removed the piece of glass from the oven with his tongs, but fate wasn’t done with him yet.

While moving the glass Stookey tripped, dropping the superheated (and thus fragile) glass onto the floor. Any reasonable person would have expected it to shatter, but instead it stayed whole. Not long after these two accidents, Coring began selling their new material, called Pyroceram, to the military to be used in rockets.

In the lab

A few years later Corning re-purposed their durable material to a line of dinnerware that holds so many memories for many of us. CorningWare was a hit, selling out across the world as the first dish that could be used in the oven, at the table and to store leftovers.

Stookey died at the age of 99 in 2014, having claim to 60 patents. With all his success it’s amazing that his biggest invention was one that he created by accident.

United Airlines new, “honest” commercial will leave you in stitches

It has not been a good month for airlines. First, a thunderstorm in Atlanta delayed/canceled thousands of flights and then United made international headlines by dragging a customer off their plane.

A video of the entire incident was released and the ensuing internet firestorm has shaken United to its core. While they are waiting for it all to go away late night is having a field day.

You can’t get far without hearing hilarious new United “mottos” or seeing more videos of passengers getting mistreated by United staff. But this commercial from Jimmy Kimmel is our favorite so far.

Calls for a boycott have already emerged, and seem to be taken seriously. It remains to be seen how United, and other airlines, respond to this scandal.

Well it must have been a terrifying experience for the man, reportedly a doctor from Kentucky, I’m sure he’s in for a hefty payday. That will mean the event has everyone laughing, except United of course.

Most people get an AAA membership when they learn how to drive, and then tuck their membership card away for a rainy day.

Unless their car breaks down, they’ll probably never use their AAA membership, and that’s a shame.

What really makes the card so useful are the discounts it gives you. You would probably be saving a lot of money if you knew them all.

Teen Mom Star Pregnant With Another Man’s Baby After Appearing On Show With her Fiancé

Sound the alarm, because one of the original Teen Mom stars is pregnant.

Amber Portwood is expecting her second child with cinematographer boyfriend, Andrew Glennon, a source told Us Magazine.

“Amber has been feeling sick lately,” the source said. “But she’s really, really happy!”

Portwood met Glennon earlier this year when she was filming reality show, Marriage Boot Camp with ex-fiancé Matt Baier. He worked on the WE TV show and reached out to Portwood following the demise of her relationship with Baier.

The MTV reality star ended her relationship with Baier in June after discovering the former drug addict offered her co-star Catelynn Lowell Xanax.

Portwood said at the MTV Video Music Awards she wanted to take it slow with her new partner.

“We’re going slow and we’re just trying to be smart about everything, which is good to find somebody on your level like that,” she said.

Glennon on the otherhand, couldn’t stop gushing over his newfound relationship.

“It was definitely butterflies there, but then again, as we started talking, strangely I felt so comfortable, which was amazing,” Glennon said. “I feel like that’s hard to find.”

However, Amber previously said the re-diagnosis of her mental illnesses would make for a difficult pregnancy.

“I just got re-diagnosed for Borderline Personality and Bipolar Disorder, and I’ve been taking three medications now that I need to take for the rest of my life,” she said. “I can’t, I can’t get pregnant on this medication.”

Portwood later clarified while she would still be capable of bringing a baby to term, but her medication would harm her unborn child.

“If I do not have medication, I will not be normal,” Portwood said. “I would have … crazy mood swings.”

Portwood made her reality TV debut in 2009 on the hit show, 16 and Pregnant, where she gave birth to her now eight-year-old daughter Leah, with ex-fiancé Gary Shirley.

The former couple share joint-custody of Leah. Shirley previously had full-custody of their daughter, following Portwood’s five year prison sentence for drug possession in 2012. She was later released. She was released after 17 months for good behaviour.

Recently Portwood addressed her uncharacteristic absence from social media, stating she was talking time to spend with her family.

How do you feel about Amber’s second pregnancy?

A Zoo Is Maiming Rhinos To Protect Them And People Are Outraged

A zoo in the Czech Republic has decided to take preventative measures to protect their rhinos.

After poachers broke into a zoo in Fracne and brutally killed a rhino for his horn, the Dvur Kralove zoo is responding to the threat in a controversial way.

The zoo has decided to sedate all the rhinos in captivity and remove their horns so that if poachers try to come in and do it inhumanely, they won’t have the option. The zoo believes this is a life-saving procedure in the long run.

Because Rhino horns grow back, some rhinos will have to undergo multiple procedures over their lifetime.

“It’s for the sake of rhino safety,” Andrea Jirousova, a spokeswoman for the Dvur Kralove zoo said. “The attack [in France] put us on the alert — the danger is really intense.”

Rhino horns now rival gold in terms of price, with organized crime groups illegally trafficking the horns across borders. The keratin found in rhino horns is (falsely) believed to cure everything from hangovers to cancer.

Though this method of “protection” is arguably a terrible idea, you cannot deny the distinct danger that animals in captivity are now facing.

“This is poaching on a whole new level,” Azzedine Downes, president and CEO of the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) says. “Wild rhinos have been in the sights of poachers for many years. It’s horrifying to imagine a captive rhino falling prey to poachers’ bullets.”

While many people think this method is unorthodox, some experts are saying it’s for the best.

“Any and all methods, including dehorning, should be supported as a deterrents to save the lives of the rhinos,” Paul Oxton, founder and director of Wild Heart Wildlife Foundation said.

Oxton also adds that there needs to be educational campaigns in high-demand countries so people understand how cruel and useless it is to de-horn a rhino.

In 2016 alone, 1100 rhinos were killed in South Africa. It’s estimated that there are only 29,500 rhinos left in the world.

Do you think this method of protection is warranted, or is it outrageous? Let us now what you think.

Dunkin’ Donuts And Baskin-Robbins Will Eliminate Artificial Additives By 2018

There’s some fantastic news coming out of the headquarters of America’s favorite dessert chains.

In an attempt to make their menu items healthier for their loyal customers, Dunkin Brands Group Inc announced that by the end of 2018, Dunkin Donuts and Baskin-Robbins will no longer use artificial coloring and flavoring in their products.

This is definitely a step in the right direction!

“It’s our goal to meet the evolving needs of our guests, including their preference for more nutritional transparency and simpler ingredients, while maintaining the great taste and fun, and vibrant colors expected from Dunkin’ Donuts,” wrote the Dunkin’ Editorial Staff. “We know that this is important to you, so it is important to us.”

Dunkin Donuts has already rolled out a lineup of cream cheese spreads that are free of synthetic additives and within the next two years, all your favorite treats including COOLATTA frozen drinks, coffee-flavored drinks and donuts will all be free of it too.

Since 2014, Dunkin’ Brand Group Inc. has been actively working towards creating a healthier and cleaner menu for its dedicated customers. They plan to “enhance menu quality by simplifying ingredient labels and lowering sodium and sugar content without sacrificing taste.”

Despite being approved by the FDA, the use of artificial dyes and flavors by the food industry has always been subject to debate especially with recent reports about the dangers of such food additives to our health.

She Spent Her Whole Life Believing She Was Sick, But When Her Mother Was Murdered The Truth Came Out

As you grow up, you begin to realize some things your parents told you weren’t as true as you thought. But what if you grow up and realize your entire life was a lie, fabricated by the person closest to you? What would you do?

Gypsy Rose Blancharde and her boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn were arrested a few days after killing Gypsy’s 48-year-old mother, Dee Dee Blancharde, in 2015.

Here’s what Gypsy posted on her and her mother’s joint Facebook account after her mother’s death.

Upon learning about this case, HBO created a documentary called Mommy Dead and Dearest that aired on March 2017, which recounts the peculiar life story of Gypsy and her mother.

Some condemned Gypsy’s decision to allow her boyfriend to murder her mother, while she heard from the bedroom, and others sympathized with her. But why?

Dee Dee was a simply a single mom from Missouri taking care of her ill daughter who suffered from leukemia, asthma, muscular dystrophy, brain damage, and other chronic conditions.

Well, that’s what Dee Dee had family members, neighbors, doctors-and worst of all-her daughter into believing.

Gypsy, now 25-years-old, developed normally. Her mother faked her daughter’s medical issues and made her suffer through unnecessary medical procedures, such as feeding tubes and cancer medicine. Gypsy was told that she had the mental capacity of a young child and couldn’t walk, so she was bound to a wheelchair for a decade.

Experts believe that Dee Dee suffered from Munchausen by proxy, which makes a guardian exaggerate or induce illness for attention and sympathy.

The truth slowly started to unravel and Gypsy didn’t know who she could turn to. Her mother was super controlling and didn’t allow her to make friends or keep in contact with her father or other family members.

When she secretly started an online romance with Nicholas, she told him her life story. It took two years until they planned to commit the murder.

“It’s like she played out that part of the fairy tale, you know?” Kristy, Gypsy’s stepmom, said on the HBO documentary. “She got rid of the evil [villain].”

Here’s the HBO trailer for Mommy Dead and Dearest.

Gypsy lived in a mental and physical prison for all her life, and now she is confined to four prison walls, serving 10 years for the second-degree murder of her mother. She is eligible for parole in 2024 (at the age of 34).

What are your thoughts about this case?

Bridesmaid Dog Steals The Show At Terminally Ill Owner’s Wedding

No matter how big or small, weddings are special. For a number of reasons some people consider their nuptials as one of the most important days of their lives.

Nicole Wakefield, Arfon Williams and their pooch Mili make a perfect example. The couple from Llanfairfechan, North Wales met 10 years ago while they were walking their dogs.

“I’d take Mili out and we used to see each other and talk about how the dogs were, and we set up a local dog walk together.” explained Nicole.

David Powell

Unfortunately, Nicole was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer earlier in the month. Realizing they may not have much time left together, the couple decided to get married with the help of the Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital staff, nurses and of course Mili.

They planned a wedding in under a week and chose Mili as a bridesmaid. Mili has been Nicole’s sidekick since she was a puppy and even brought the couple together, so the decision to have her by their side was a no-brainer.

The chief bridesmaid looked extra adorable with a yellow carnation attached to her collar throughout the ceremony.

“Mili’s part of the family. She really brought us together, and we didn’t want her to miss out on the wedding.” said Nicole. “She was watching really intently while we were signing the marriage register.” she added.

Daily Post

“We can honestly say that our wedding day was the happiest day of our lives.” said Nicole. I bet having Mili by their side helped a lot with that!
